Faith Conservatory of the Fine Arts to Present EXPANDING THE ARTS: SUDDENLY SONDHEIM, 3/20

By:
Faith Conservatory of the Fine Arts will host a special evening of entertainment, "Expanding The Arts: Suddenly Sondheim," a one-night-only showcase benefitting Faith's Conservatory of the Fine Arts. The program will feature beloved Sondheim classics from "Into The Woods," "Sweeney Todd," "West Side Story," and "Dick Tracy," as well as honor the talents of master magician Lance Burton. The event, which is open to the public, will showcase the incredible talents of the students.

Faith Lutheran CEO Steve Buuck said, "We are excited to host this first class evening of entertainment and fellowship as it provides the Las Vegas valley a tremendous opportunity to come together and support the arts."

The evening will commence with a pre-show cocktail reception, as well as a raffle and silent auction. The production, which is a collaborative effort of Faith Conservatory students from all artistic disciplines, will present a display of incredible renditions of Sondheim's iconic numbers. The showcase has been curated as an opportunity for the community to show support for the immense artistic talent currently active at Faith Conservatory, and as an investment in the talented young performers who will benefit from the program in the future.

The Faith Conservatory of the Fine Arts is spearheaded by Emily Ball who serves as dean of fine arts as well as many talented instructors including Erik Ball, director of theatrical arts, Dan Zeigner, music lead teacher, Beth Buchholz, visual arts lead teacher, and award-winning choreographer and dance teacher Chris Harper. The new conservatory will allow students to major in four fine arts disciplines including dance, theatre, music and visual arts. The program will celebrate its inaugural year during the 2015-2016 academic year, after an extremely successful trial period offered to the Faith Lutheran High School seniors during the current academic year. Several progressive artistic opportunities will be offered to conservatory students including theatrical plays and musicals at regional, state and national levels, visits to New York City to experience professional productions, choir recitals, band concerts, visual arts showcases and studio exhibits, dance team competitions and performances in chapel services.

About the evening, Emily Ball said, "This is such an important evening not only for the Conservatory, but also for the community itself. It will offer the unique opportunities for all the disciplines to create a work of art together, for the patrons to see first hand the impact art has had on these students' lives, and to enjoy a spectacular performance."

"Expanding The Arts: Suddenly Sondheim" will take place on March 20, 2015 and will be held inside The Faith Lutheran Performing Arts Center. The reception will begin at 7 p.m. followed by the showcase at 8 p.m. Tickets are $50.00 and can be purchased at www.faiththeatrecompany.com.
