Cirque du Soleil and Springs Preserve to Host 'Run Away' Event to Kick Off ONE DROP World Water Week, Today

On Saturday, March 15, Cirque du Soleil and the Springs Preserve will host the 13th annual "Run Away with Cirque du Soleil" 5K Run and 1-Mile Fun Walk to kick-off ONE DROP World Water Week. Mayor Carolyn Goodman will be on hand to perform the race start and Nevada Public Radio's President and General Manager Flo Rogers will act as emcee for the day's events.

Registration begins at 7 a.m. in the Springs Preserve ticket entrance, at 333 S. Valley View Boulevard, with the 5K Run and 1-Mile Fun beginning promptly at 8:30 a.m. For more information, or to register in advance, visit http://bit.ly/1geI9fB.

In celebration of ONE DROP World Water Week (March 15 through 22), "Run Away with Cirque du Soleil" gives participants a chance to run/walk alongside their favorite Cirque du Soleil artists at this annual event, while drawing attention to the importance of water and the sustainable management of safe water resources. All proceeds support the Springs Preserve and Cirque du Soleil Foundations.

"I'm overjoyed to support Run Away with Cirque du Soleil," said Mayor Carolyn Goodman. "The event is fun for all ages and allows the community to visit and support the programs at the Springs Preserve."

Post-race activities include live music, photo opportunities with Cirque du Soleil artists and a circus play area for children, along with complimentary refreshments from Whole Foods Market and massage therapy provided by the Milan Institute.

All participants will also be included in a raffle for a chance to win one of seven pairs of show tickets to Mystère; "O"; Zumanity, The Sensual Side of Cirque du Soleil; KÀ;The Beatles LOVE by Cirque du Soleil; Criss Angel Believe; Zarkana; Michael Jackson ONE; and prizes from the Springs Preserve. The Grand Prize raffle package includes airfare for four to Orlando, four tickets to La Nouba by Cirque du Soleil, along with hotel accommodations and park passes to Walt Disney World.

Runaway with Cirque du Soleil online registration is now open through Thursday, March 13. Early Bird registration fee is $37 for the 5K Run and $27 for the 1-Mile Fun Walk through Saturday, March 1. After March 1, fees increase to $40 for the 5K Run and $30 for the 1-Mile Fun Walk. The first 1,200 participants to sign up will receive an event t-shirt.
