New Christy Minstrels Perform At Nettie Hartnett 4/24
The New Christy Minstrels are coming to town! The New Christy Minstrels will be performing at the Nettie Hartnett School Auditorium on Friday, April 24, 2009, at 7:00 pm. Autograph signings immediately follow the performance.
The New Christy Minstrels are the brainchild of Leavenworth native Randy Sparks. A veteran of the music business, Sparks formed several musical groups throughout the 1960s and 1970s, and wrote for a variety of singers, including Burl Ives, John Denver, and the Carpenters. Sparks' New Christy Minstrels are an eclectic group of folk musicians that enjoyed considerable success during the 1960s - they had their own television series on NBC and even performed for President LynDon Johnson in 1964 - and continue to perform throughout the U.S. today.
