Box Office Coordinator (Seasonal)
Spoleto Festival USA
$700 per week
Listing Information
Spoleto Festival USA is internationally recognized as America’s premier performing arts festival. For 17 days and nights each spring, Spoleto Festival USA fills Charleston’s historic theaters, churches, and outdoor spaces with performances in opera; theater; dance; and chamber, symphonic, choral, and jazz music. Spoleto Festival USA is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.
The Role
Spoleto Festival USA is seeking a Box Office Coordinator to coordinate the box office side of the 2027 Festival, running May 28 through June 13. You’ll own group sales and luxury travel planner sales from first outreach to final confirmation, coordinate the apprentices, ticket agents, and drivers who keep the box office moving (stepping into any of their shifts when needed), and make sure every venue has exactly what it needs before the doors open.
We’re looking for a polished, detail-oriented client services professional, ideally from the box office, hospitality, or luxury travel world. You treat every planner and group leader as a client to look after, you stay calm when deadlines stack up, and you keep records clean enough that anyone could open an account and know where it stands. This is a seasonal, full-time role from mid-November 2026 through June 25, 2027.
Above all, you genuinely love working with people. Your energy is infectious, you inspire the people around you, and you make sure every staff member and volunteer you work alongside is equipped and empowered to deliver an exceptional, hospitable experience for every patron and guest.
Position Type: Seasonal, full-time, exempt, and not benefit-eligible
Location: Charleston, SC (onsite)
Department: Box Office & Visitor Experience

What You’ll Do
- Set the tone for exceptional hospitality, and make sure the staff and volunteers you work alongside have the tools, information, and confidence to do their jobs well.
- Run the full group sales and luxury travel planner sales cycle in Tessitura: outreach, reservations (holds, orders, and payments), and fulfillment (tickets, confirmations, and guest records).
- Look after each planner and group leader as a client, answering promptly, anticipating needs, and speaking the language of high-end travel advisors.
- Coordinate schedules and day-to-day support for the Festival Apprentices, Ticket Agents, and Drivers, cover call-ins, and step in to work any of those shifts when needed.
- Help train staff across every Box Office & Visitor Experience position, with a focus on Tessitura and box office procedures.
- Prepare and confirm will call, equipment, and supplies for every performance, and hand them off cleanly to the Visitor Experience team at each venue.
- Support daily box office operations and patron service by phone, email, and in person.
- Support and manage merchandise fulfillment and keep inventory accurate, organized, and stocked.
- Coordinate and manage Festival pop-ups at community and promotional events, recruit event volunteers, and get our materials into local businesses. What You’ll Bring - Concierge-level client services experience in box office, ticketing, hospitality, or luxury travel.
- Fluency in Tessitura, including holds, orders, payments, and fulfillment.
- Comfort with the language and expectations of high-end travel advisors and their clients.
- A genuine love of working with people and a warm, positive attitude that inspires everyone around you.
- A hospitality-first mindset and a natural instinct to anticipate what people need before they ask.
- Experience scheduling, training, or coordinating a team, including seasonal, volunteer, or student staff.
- Sharp organization and attention to detail, and a calm, steady approach under pressure.
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Working knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) as it relates to accessible seating and patron service.
- Prior Spoleto Festival USA experience is a plus, but not required. Good to Know - Seasonal from mid-November 2026 through June 25, 2027, with a standard 40-hour week plus evening, weekend, holiday, and on-call hours during the Festival.
