URINETOWN: The Musical | A terrible water shortage has crippled the Gotham-like town that serves as the setting for Urinetown. In a mad attempt to regulate water consumption, the government has outlawed the use of private toilets. The citizenry must use public, pay-for-use amenities owned and operated by the corrupt and iron-fisted Caldwell B.

Every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday August 4th - 27th



AUDITION INFO:

In-Person Auditions: Auditionees will be provided script selections. Please come prepared with two music selections of varying styles that best showcase voice/musical theatricality. Keep selection(s) around 60 sec and songs from the show are acceptable, but not required. Accompaniment will not be provided. You may sing a cappella or with a track/instrumental.



*Video Submissions: Prepare one monologue that is less than one minute. Prepare two music selections of varying styles that best showcase your voice and musical theatricality. Keep each selection around 60 sec and songs from the show are acceptable, but not required. Please submit video submissions and Audition Form to submissions@ltnonline.org. Dance auditions, additional scene readings, and additional vocal auditions will take place at in-person callbacks.



ROLES:



OFFICER LOCKSTOCK | Narrator, corrupt policeman who secretly kills off the guilty offenders. Bold, brash, and larger than life. Gender: Male/Male-Presenting, Age: 30+, Vocal range A2-A4



PENELOPE PENNYWISE | Tough, jaded warden of the poorest, filthiest town urinal. Cladwell's one-time lover and mother to Hope who eventually softens her temper. Gender: Female/Female-Presenting, Age: 35 to 50, Vocal range A3-C6



BOBBY STRONG | Dashing, rebellious everyman who works for Miss Pennywise at the poorest, filthiest town urinal. He becomes an unsuspecting protagonist and romantic hero when he starts a revolution and falls in love with Hope. Gender: Male/Male-Presenting, Age: 18 to 35, Vocal range: A2-C5



LITTLE SALLY | A precocious and irreverent street urchin. She serves as a quasi-narrator who often questions Lockstock and the play's logic. Gender: Female/Female-Presenting, Age: 16 to 35, Vocal range: A3-E5



DR. BILLEAUX | Head of Research and Development at UGC. Gender: Male/Male-Presenting, Age: 30+, Vocal range: E3-A3

MR. MCQUEEN | Cladwell's sycophantic lackey. A servile assistant. Gender: Male/Male-Presenting, Age: 18+, Vocal range: B2-E4



SENATOR FIPP | A greedy politician in Cladwell's pocket. A bumbling coward. Gender: Male/Male-Presenting, Age: 40+, Vocal range: C#3-F4



OFFICER BARREL | Lockstock's patrol partner. Problematic and aggressive policeman. Gender: Male/Male-Presenting, Age: 18+, Vocal range: G2-F4



HOPE CLADWELL | Cladwell's daughter, torn between her father and her love for Bobby. Begins as an innocent, naive angel but becomes vengeful and determined after being exposed to her father's evil. Gender:

Female/Female-Presenting, Age: 18 to 35, Vocal range: A3-A5



JOSEPH "OLD MAN" STRONG | Bobby's rebellious father. His refusal to pay the fee sends him to Urinetown, ultimately launching the revolution. Optional Doubling as HOT BLADES HARRY. Gender: Male/Male-Presenting, Age: 50+



TINY TOM | One of the Poor, he is a foolish man-child. Gender: Male/Male-Presenting, Age: 18+, Vocal range: D3-A3



SOUPY SUE | One of the Poor, she is excitable and easily panicked. Gender: Female/Female-Presenting, Age: 18+, Vocal range: Bb3-B4



LITTLE BECKY TWO-SHOES | One of the Poor. Foul-mouthed, impulsive, and accusatory. Gender: Female/Female-Presenting, Age: 18+, Vocal range: Bb3-F5



CALDWELL B. CLADWELL | Evil president and owner of the Urine Good Company. A miserly money-grubber who gleefully exploits the poor. Gender: Male/Male-Presenting, Age: 40-60, Vocal range: A2-G4



JOSEPHINE "MA" STRONG | Bobby's mother and Joseph's wife. Strong-willed woman, able to withstand the hard hand life has dealt her. Gender: Female/Female-Presenting, Age: 50+, Vocal range: Bb3- D5



HOT BLADES HARRY | One of the Poor, often a violent loose cannon. Optional Doubling as JOSEPH "OLD MAN" STRONG. Gender: Male/Male-Presenting, Age: 45+, Vocal range: A2-F4
