Build Your TV/Film Reel While Getting Real On-Set Experience

Have years of theatre experience but not enough professional on-camera footage to compete for TV and film auditions? The Simon Studio Film Lab is a hands-on on-camera acting and filmmaking workshop in NYC where actors work on scripted scenes under the direction of working filmmaker Daniel Hendricks Simon — while creating professional footage they can actually use. This isn't just a class where you run a scene and get notes. You perform, get directed, shoot multiple takes, work with professional camera and sound equipment, and watch your footage back on a massive screen. You'll experience the rhythm of a real set while developing your on-camera skills and building material for your reel, Actors Access, Backstage, and casting submissions. WHAT YOU'LL DO

Each actor brings a scene to work on. Film/TV scenes, theatre scenes, monologues, Shakespeare, or your own writing are all welcome. We also have a database of 100+ scenes if you need material. Daniel directs each actor through multiple takes, just as he would on a professional set. You'll also get hands-on experience with the filmmaking side — including slating, booming, camera, sound, set changes, and working with fellow actors. At the end of the session, everyone watches the footage together and gets immediate visual feedback on their work. You receive all of your raw footage and every take to use for your own career materials. You can then select your favorite takes and have Daniel turn them into polished, reel-ready footage. The Film Lab runs: Mondays: 2–6 PM

Tuesdays: 6–10 PM Sessions take place on the Upper East Side and are limited to 5 actors per session, so everyone gets substantial time on camera. All packages are flexible — you can choose whichever Monday or Tuesday works for your schedule. Packages are valid for 3 months from purchase. PACKAGES

1 session A great option if you need one strong new scene or want to experience the lab before committing to multiple sessions. THE UPDATE — $435

Need footage on your own schedule? Private shoots are $545 and can be scheduled by request. You'll have a private 2-hour shoot with Daniel and can film up to 3 scenes. Bring your own reader, shoot multiple takes, and receive all of your raw footage. After you select your favorites, Daniel can edit the footage into polished, reel-ready clips.
