Stage Managers Needed for 2023 Season - Ignite Theatre Company

LISTING INFORMATION

Ignite is urgently hiring an experienced Stage Manager for the following productions:



Footloose: YE performing at the Grandel May 11-14, 2023.

Rehearsals- February 17th through April 30. Wednesdays and Fridays, 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm. Saturdays 8:30 am - 1:00 pm.

Tech May 1-10th. Weeknights 5:00-9:00 pm, Saturday 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Show May 11-14.



Addams Family: YAP performing at the Robert Reim June 17th and 18th. This is a two week camp beginning June 5th and ending June 18th. Hours are 8:30 am - 3:30 pm. Shows are in the evening.



Winnie the Pooh Kids performing at the First Congregational Church of Webster Groves UCC, June 23rd and 24th. This is a one week camp for grades K-5 beginning June 19th and ending June 24th. Hours are 8:30 am - 12:30 pm. Shows are in the evening.



Grease performing at the Robert Reim August 3-August 6, 2023.

Rehearsals - June 20th through July 27th. Tuesday and Thursdays 5:00 pm - 10:00 pm.

Tech and show July 29-August 6th.



The Lightning Thief at the Robert Reim November 30 -December 3, 2023.

Rehearsals - September 8 - November 18th. Wednesdays and Fridays, 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm. Saturdays 8:30 am - 1:00 pm.

Tech November 20th - 29th.

Show November 30 - December 3rd.



Purpose of Position: The Ignite Stage Manager (SM) is key to creating an efficient and positive production. The ability to successfully lead and work with the company will be of utmost importance. The SM overall purpose will be to work directly with the director, cast and production team to move a show from inception to closing. Aside from the obvious technical aspects of the position, in many cases you will be involved in that call on human relations skills and diplomacy. You will serve as an adult responsible for performers safety, as well as provide practical and organizational support to the director, actors, designers, stage crew and technicians throughout the production process. During performances, you will be responsible for making sure that the production runs smoothly, and that everyone involved is following all health and safety guidelines.

Run a well-organized mainstage production.

Duties:

Communicate the director's wishes to designers and craftspeople.

Coordinate the work of the stage crew.

Call cues and possibly actors' entrances during performances.

Oversee the entire show each time it is performed.

Mark out the dimensions of the set on the floor of the rehearsal hall.

Make sure rehearsal props and furnishings are available for the actors.

Attend all rehearsals.

Supervise performer check in and check out.

Notify the designers and craftspeople of changes made in rehearsal.

Maintain health and safety standards.

Ensure the safety of each performer.

Will assume responsibility for safety of all performers (be familiar with risk management plans), and report all injury incidences to show director.

Follow Ignite objectives, rules, policies, and guidelines.

assist with show activities.

Serve as a positive role model for performers.

Participate enthusiastically.

Run performer check in and check out.

Delegate work to student staff.

Take diligent blocking notes.

Exhibit Characteristics of: Organization, patience, creativity, dependability, kindness, responsibility, and maturity; be a self-starter and a team player with a positive attitude.

Qualifications and Requirements

Must have significant related experience in the field.

Must provide references as it relates to this position.

Must be punctual and organized.

If hired, attend the training session prior to employment. Training session will be held at Ignite Theatre Company’s office. This training session is mandatory. Scheduling will be discussed and contracted based on both parties' availability.

Ignite is looking for:

Someone with significant related experience in the field.

Someone who knows how to solve problems.

Someone who has a basic understanding of all the technical demands of a production: including, but not limited to lights, sound, props, set changes, make-up changes, and special effects.

Someone with a firm, kind, polite, respectful, and calm manner, who can encourage and lead a large number of people to achieve a high standard of backstage discipline.

Someone with stamina and a sense of humor.

Someone who can pass a background check.

Someone with reliable transportation.

Time requirement:

Participation in mutually agreeable production meetings with the production team throughout the production process.

Rehearsals three days a week.

Tech and show dates are non-negotiable.



*Please note, we are a nonprofit theatre and have limited financial resources. We offer a stipend to contractors and listed pay is negotiable. Pay will vary by production.
