Short Film Casting Call - MA

Casting is underway for Night in New York a film produced by Rachel Barclay & written & directed by Shireen Khaled.



We're looking for two characters:

CAMELIA: Female, 40-55; “the spontaneous one”

NADIM: Male, 45-55; “the pragmatic one.”

Filming will take place over 2 days & in 1 location in New York City.



About the film

The short is about a longtime married couple who realize amidst the still-unfolding COVID-19 pandemic that they have suddenly fallen out of love.They spend their night trying to fall in love – again.



Since this is a Graduate Student film, we are unable to compensate actors, but we will provide food, and will be able to reimburse for transportation within reason as well. We are planning on submitting the film to major festivals.



About Rachel

Rachel, a graduate Media Studies student at The New School | New York City.



Rachel’s experience and passion lies with connecting audiences with storytellers especially those from marginalized and underserved communities. She has worked in cultural and film programming, film distribution, marketing, social media, and grassroots community initiatives.

Her work intersects with the arts, community organization, and education and focuses on creating experiences that bring communities together, creating exposure for artists and exposing audiences to accessible experiences.



About Shireen

Shireen, a graduate Media Studies student at The New School | New York City. Her personal story follows her move from Beirut to New York. She has lived through profound instability, yet she has never felt more resilient and found solace in art. Theater has always been her first love, but she is impassioned to refashion this earlier medium into film through directing. She is passionate about stories of love, and sharing with the world stories from Lebanon in hopes of extending them into a collective emotional narrative.
