Seeking A Toronto Based Designer for Sarah DeLappe's The Wolves - All The Hats Productions

Job Detail All The Hats Productions is currently seeking non-union, Toronto based Designers (sound, lighting, set, costume) for our upcoming production of Sarah DeLappe’s The Wolves running April 6th - 10th, 2022. All The Hats Productions seeks to create opportunities for emerging theatre artists of marginalized genders to gain experience, particularly in fields of Direction, Theatre Tech and Design. Artists of a marginalized gender are strongly encouraged to submit for this project. Position Summary Our team is hiring the Sound Designer, Set Designer, Props Designer, and Costume Designer to support our growing team. The successful candidate will demonstrate an excellent design and an exceptional eye for aesthetics. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative, flexible and innovative emerging artist with a passion for telling female centric stories. Due to the public health situation in Ontario, while the production is currently planned to take place in-person, the Designers will need to be comfortable transitioning their designs to a virtual format should public health restrictions change. Job Description As a Sound Designer, you will be responsible for obtaining all sound effects, whether recorded or live for the show. Also responsible for ensuring the sound equipment is set up correctly and that the board op is properly trained. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of video editors, lighting experts, etc. As a Set Designer, you will be responsible for designing and creating the sets for the show. Work closely with the director to conceptualize, design, and develop the overall look of the production. Head of the props department for the production. As a Props Designer, you will be responsible for all props - this includes acquiring them, organizing them, and ensuring that they are handled safely. As a Costume Designer, you will mainly be responsible for designing the costumes for a production. Ensuring that they match the time period, style, and the directors' vision for the piece. Plan and supervise costume fittings and dress rehearsals. Make sure to return, store and dispose of used costumes. As a Lighting Designer, you will be responsible for the design, installation, and operation of the lighting and special electrical effects in production. Must properly fill out/create all associated paperwork for the design including hookups, schedules, cut lists, and a cue synopsis. Qualifications Overall Experience working in educational or indie theatre and/or education or training in specified area of design Looking for applicants with the intention of gaining experience with the intent of working in design as a career Sound Designer Experience with sound engineering, recording and editing methods and equipment Hands on experience with sound recording and editing software Great interpersonal and communication skills Set Designer Work experience in a similar role. Expertise in layout, colour, lighting, materials selection, custom furniture and all installations Artistic ability, vision and creativity Communication and presentation skills Props Designer Work experience in a similar role. Requires artistic talent, creativity and highly advanced technical skills Attention to detail Strong interpersonal and communication skills Costume Designer Work experience in a similar role. In-depth knowledge of design, materials and textiles Knowledge of latest costume designing trends Good time-management skills Lighting Designer Work experience in a similar role. Technical thinking, knowledge of equipment specifications and excellent project management skills. The ability to problem-solve and adapt on the fly. A creative and collaborative spirit.
