Production Supervisor - Brooklyn Academy of Music

Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) is a multi-disciplinary arts center located in Brooklyn, New York. For more than 150 years, BAM has been the home for adventurous artists, audiences, and ideas—engaging both global and local communities. With world-renowned programming in theater, dance, music, opera, film, and much more, BAM showcases the work of emerging artists and innovative modern masters.

We are seeking a full-time Production Supervisor to handle technical aspects of BAM presentations, productions, rentals and special events. This position is based in our Fisher Building and will have a focus on audio and video. We are looking for someone who is a creative problem solver, has excellent communication skills, thrives in a team atmosphere, and can manage a realistic budget. An ideal candidate for this position would have experience in production management as well as experience managing or working in the carpentry and rigging field.

This position would begin in October, 2022.



Responsibilities:

• You will advance productions in the Fisher building and on BAM’s campus with particular focus on technical and budget analysis, arrangement of equipment, and determination and communication of scheduling of technical staff and stagehands

• You will supervise crews and run events throughout the BAM campus

• You will manage the audio and video department in the BAM Fisher, including advance work, assisting in hiring and scheduling of Fisher overhire labor and supervising maintenance of in-house equipment

• You will collaborate with BAM Programming, General Management and Operations to support the presentation of a diverse programmatic slate including BAMKids and Next Wave performances, humanities talks, education programs, a technical production workforce development program, and community programs and events.

Priority Experience and Skills

• Five years applicable professional theatrical work experience

• Experience supervising or working in audio and video field

• Expertise with Autocad and/or Vectorworks a plus

• Excellent oral, writing, and interpersonal skills

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word, PowerPoint

• Willingness to work on an irregular schedule, often with long hours

• Experience reading and interpreting drawings and other technical materials

• Experience managing expenditures

• Experience creating schedules and meeting deadlines

• Comfortable working with DEI concepts, programs, and initiatives

• Must have the ability to satisfy NYC COVID-19 vaccination mandate for businesses.



Compensation: This position at BAM is represented by UAW Local 2110. This is a full time, non-exempt position and the salary for this position is $64,575.
