The hiring pay range for Director of Marketing & Communications: $96,850- $123,484 annual salary.

SUMMARY



Reporting to the Vice President of Strategy & Business Development, the Director of Marketing & Communications will lead organizational initiatives that will ensure brand identity and awareness, audience engagement, and strategic marketing initiatives. This role requires vision-oriented marketing and communications strategist and collaborative relationship-builder to ensure that oversees planning, execution and analysis for all of the San Diego Theatres venues and brand.







ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.



Lead and manage staff of two full-time marketing employees as well as part-time graphic designer. Collaborates heavily with the programming and ticketing departments.

Leads, hires, manages and coaches marketing and communications staff to create compelling content and marketing campaigns that generate ticket sales and promotes brand recognition and supports business goals and objectives.

Create, conceptualize and implement marketing plans and strategies across digital, social media, print, and collateral platforms.

Develops, manages and leads strategic communications content and public relations/marketing strategies through marketing materials, videos, blogs, social media, brochures, email campaigns and print publications.

Develops and manages annual marketing budget as well as individual campaign budgets.

Leads brand oversight in collateral and marketing materials featured on Theatre’s website, social media channels, email campaigns, print publications, brochures, flyers, media/press kits, presentations, banners, infographics, videos, and other communications and marketing collateral.

Establishes project timelines and budgets, prioritizes workflow and delegates responsibilities to meet deadlines.

Cultivates and maintains strong relationships with local media and trade publications.

Oversees internal and external messaging across platforms, including press releases, blogs, emails and branded collateral.

Builds relationships with external partners and vendors; Establishes partnerships with community organizations, businesses, and other stakeholders for ongoing cross-promotional collaboration

Collaborates with internal departments to maximize opportunities for content creation and provide opportunities for campaign input.

Ensures San Diego Theatres brand consistency across multiple materials and platforms.

Participates in long-range institutional planning.

Represents San Diego Theatres at public events.





SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES



Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employee, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.



QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE



Must be a strong leader and team player with an excellent track record of leading and supporting a marketing team.

Minimum of 7-10 years of executive-level marketing and communications experience and managing a dynamic and creative team.

Bachelor’s degree and/or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience.

Must be creative and strategic and comfortable working in a fast-paced team environment.

Previous experience in the performing arts or venue management highly desired.

Possess exceptional leadership skills and have experience creating and executing strategic marketing, social media, public relations and communications plans.

Proficient computer skills to include Adobe Creative Suite, Project MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.

Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.

Bilingual skills a plus.





LANGUAGE SKILLS



Ability to read and interpret materials such as media releases, websites, reports, instructions, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to draft copy and reports related to assigned projects.



MATHEMATICAL SKILLS



Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to create graphs and other graphics to communicate numerical and statistical information in a more visually understandable format.



REASONING ABILITY



Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
