Viterbo University's Theatre and Music Theatre Department, a growing, nationally recognized BFA/BA program with 90 active majors, invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Theatre and Music Theatre, beginning August 2021. This position is part of the newly announced formation of our Conservatory for the Performing Arts-an initiative born of the belief that the world needs artists and storytellers now more than ever. Our goal is to cultivate artists grounded in the liberal arts with a strong sense of self, a commitment to the common good and the skills to succeed at a professional level in the demanding performing arts industry.
Coursework will include: Advanced Music Theatre Scene Study, Music Theatre Performance (Lab), and Acting Scene Study. Additional courses could include Movement/Clowning, Introduction to Directing, Stage Combat or Text Analysis (depending on specialty areas of experience and interest).
Qualifications: MFA (or BA/BFA with professional equivalency), collegiate-level teaching experience and the ability to work collaboratively required. Preference given to candidates with significant interest/experience directing musicals.
Rank and Salary: Appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor (or instructor/non-tenure track with a BA/BFA). Nine-month academic year appointment beginning August 2021. Salary is competitive with other private, liberal arts institutions of similar size.
