Fellow Travelers is an opera telling a gay love story set during the McCarthy-era Lavender Scare, exploring decades of government persecution faced by LGBTQ+ Americans. The national tour features The Lavender Names Project, a living memorial collecting photos and stories of those affected by anti-LGBTQ+ discrimination, which appears on stage at every performance. The project is a collaboration with the American LGBTQ+ Museum, ALL OUT, and the Lambda Archives of San Diego. The Glimmerglass Festival presents the production July 18 through August 16, 2026.
