A new production of The Roommate, the dark comedy by Jen Silverman, is set to take the stage at the Cameri Theatre in a Hebrew translation by Gur Koren and under the direction of Shirili Deshe. Performances run May 1 - June 4.

The play centers on Sharon, a divorced woman in her sixties living in a small American town, whose quiet life revolves around cooking and book club meetings. Her routine is disrupted when she takes in a new roommate, Robin—a free-spirited New Yorker whose bold personality and hidden past quickly upend Sharon’s world. What begins as an unlikely cohabitation evolves into an unexpected and increasingly dangerous journey for both women.

Described as a witty and touching two-hander, The Roommate gained widespread attention during its Broadway run for its sharp humor and emotional depth. This new staging aims to capture that same blend of comedy and tension while introducing the story to local audiences.

The creative team includes set design by Alexandra Nardi, costumes by Orna Smorgonsky, music by Itamar Gross, and lighting design by Baruchi Spiegelman. Karin Siegel serves as director’s assistant. The production features performances by Odia Koren and Mickey Kam.

Running approximately 90 minutes, the play is presented by special arrangement with United Talent Agency. Audiences should note that the production includes the use of a cigarette-like stage prop.
