Tarmonbarry-based Sanctuary Players Perform The Beauty Queen of Leenane

Tarmonbarry-based Sanctuary Players will perform the much-loved Martin McDonagh play 'The Beauty Queen of Leenane' at Roscommon Arts Centre on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th March, 8pm. Written in 1996, 'The Beauty Queen' is a black comedy by Irish playwright Martin McDonagh premiered by Druid, which has gone on to enjoy runs at London's West End, and Broadway, and off-Broadway theatres in New York.
Set in the village of Leenane in the early 1990s, the play centres on the life of Maureen Folan, a 40-year-old spinster who has to take care of her selfish and manipulative mother Mag. The glimmer of a last-chance romance between Maureen and the middle-aged construction worker Pato begins but is soon threatened by Mag.
Directed by DonAl Kelly, this story, full of deception and heartache will have you at the edge of your seat. Tickets are available through Roscommon Arts Centre's box office on 090 6625824.
