Corcadorca Theatre Company, pioneers of site-specific productions, are setting sail to Spike Island in Cork Harbour this summer with a production of Caryl Churchill 's "Far Away", as part of the Cork Midsummer Festival. This unique event will begin as you board the ferry at Kennedy Pier, Cobh, to journey to the island for a promenade performance of Churchill's acclaimed anti-war play. Directed by Pat Kiernan, "Far Away" features a stellar cast; Judith Rody as Joan, Pauline McLynn as Harper, and Manus Halligan as Todd.

The play is set around a hat factory in a chaotic world at war with itself. Written in 2000, it still reflects the current political landscape and offers a perspective on the cost of turning a blind eye. The show will see Corcadorca deploy their largest ever community cast who will be key to creating the aesthetic centrepiece for the show. The company is still recruiting for the community cast, and no previous acting experience is necessary for these non-speaking roles.
