CIT Cork School Of Music Presents New Perspectives, New Technologies

"New Perspectives, New Technologies"- a seminar on developments in special needs music education as part of Cork's Life-long Learning Festival Thursday 14th April - 10.am - 4pm At the CIT Cork School of Music
Presented by Cork Music Works in association with Cork School of MusicAimed at care-workers, musicians, volunteers and policy makers interested in using music and other arts in their work with pople with disability - with a particular focus on assistive music technology.Bringing people in the disability sector together to highlight the exciting developments in music education; addressing training needs for the future.Special guests include Ruud van der Wel from Holland, who collaborated with Irish engineer and designer Brian Dillon on 'The Magic Flute' - an innovative electronic instrument that allows truly expressive performance with only the breath and small head movements. This device is being used by the My Breath My Music project in Holland and Karin van Dijk travels to Ireland for the seminar to present the project and perform on The Magic Flute. Grainne McHale, of Cork Music Works will present 'Access and Beyond : Assitive Technology in Music Education - an Irish Perspective. Harpist, Orla Busteed, another workshop leader with Cork Music Works will describe her work as a harp therapist. Deafblind music therapist, Russ Palmer from the U.K., will speak about how he overcame his disabilities to make a career in music in his presentation "Feel the Music - A passion for music through our senses."Love Theater in Ireland?
