By: Lauren Wolman
THE SANCTUARY LAMP written and directed by Tom Murphy opened in Dublin in 2008 and following this hugely successful run b*spoke theatre company are delighted to announce that THE SANCTUARY LAMP (this time starring Kate Brennan, Declan Conlon, Bosco Hogan, Robert O'Mahoney) will tour to 3 venues in 2010.
The production will open at the Arcola Theatre in London from 10th March until 3rd April, then move to the Everyman Palace Theatre, Cork from 12th until 17th April and finally to the Civic Theatre, Dublin for its final performances from 19th until 24th April. Three people locked in a Catholic Church for the night: An ex-circus strongman who prays to the Sanctuary Lamp for strength, a run-away waif haunted by her past and an Irish blackguard...Tom Murphy directs this revival of his own play for b*spoke theatre company. Described by the Guardian as one of Irish Theatre's "proudest possessions", Murphy has been a major influence on a generation of Irish Theatre makers and his distinctive voice remains a major force in the contemporary repertory.
