Come The Darkness is a romantic tale of Mirela, a beautiful slave girl, and Vladimir, the Count of Bran Castle. The story takes place in the late 1800s set against the backdrop of the revolution to free the Roma slaves, commonly called gypsies by their noble masters. High in the Carpathian Mountains of Eastern Europe, in a world of crystal balls, vampires, and royal boyars, Mirela is caught between her love for the Count and the jealousies of the Vampiress Carmilla, whose eternal lust for power could darken their lives forever as she challenges Mirela and her destiny. As the Winter Solstice Festival approaches to celebrate the longest night of the year, and as the Roma slaves are calling for freedom, the question remains as to whom and to what shall prevail - Mirela or Carmilla, light or darkness, freedom or slavery.
