New Theatre Magazine Debuts Inaugural Print Publication

New Theatre Magazine (NTM), an independent print publication founded by Kathryn Lynn Morgen, announces their Pilot Issue and Kickstarter campaign to fund the printing of the first 80-page issue showcasing contributions from artists, playwrights, dramaturgs, stage designers, technicians, directors, actors, producers, and crew members across the US & UK.

New Theatre Magazine uses the power of print media and journalism to normalize inclusivity in theatre by bringing underrepresented and marginalized voices to the forefront of storytelling.

"I'm excited about NTM because it aims to bring a like-minded community of people together through various forms of content that show all parts of theatre and the diversity that exists inside it." said Madison Parrotta, Copy Editor, NTM, who joined the project after responding to a call on Facebook from founder Kathryn Lynn Morgen.

Julieta Vitullo, Head Editor, NTM, who joined the project the same way as Parrotta, said "I think New Theatre Magazine is a gift to the world of independent theater makers and lovers, and a bit of a miracle."

The Kickstarter campaign, which runs through June 14, 2018, features a number of reward options, including full page advertisements and "Producer Profiles" in the Pilot Issue which is due for release on July 15, 2018. Four advertisements were previously awarded to non-profit organizations for free using a lottery system.

Ring of Keys, a national network of queer women+, and TGNC artists working professionally in musical theatre, is one of the winning advertisers in the Pilot Issue. Ring of Keys co-founder, Andrea Prestinario, spoke highly of the project, "We need NTM. What better way to elevate our stories than to be in print form, a tactile resource, in hand all across the country."

New Theatre Magazine will be released three times a year featuring plays, interviews, roundtable discussions on political and social issues, artist profiles, book reviews, and reader-submission columns like "Show Us Your Booths!", photographs of theatre tech booths, and "Overheard in the Theatre", an illustrated column of absurd quotes overheard during the rehearsal process.

Current contributors to the Pilot Issue include Rose Cano, Grace Carmack, Anthony 'CozCon' Conover, Valerie Curtis-Newton, Brian Dang, Merridawn Duckler, Marcus Gorman, Kathy Hsieh, Hadley Kamminga-Peck, Jasmine Lomax, Hannah Merrill, Elaine Romero, Micki Shelton, Ayla Sullivan, Brittany Alyse Willis, Katie Wilton, and Woodzick.
