Dramatic Publishing Company today announced its acquisition of the insightful comedy Cry it Out by Molly Smith Metzler, a Los Angeles-based playwright and screenwriter.

The acquisition of the play, which was a hit at this year's Humana Festival of New American Plays, gives the company full rights to publish and license the work.

Dramatic Publishing also represents Metzler's Training Wisteria and the upcoming The May Queen.

Metzler's plays, which include Elemeno Pea, Carve and Close Up Space, have been produced off-Broadway and across the country. She is also a screenwriter who has written for Casual (Hulu), Orange Is the New Black (Netflix) and Shameless (Showtime), for which she is currently a writer/producer. Metzler is also working on new plays for South Coast Repertory and Manhattan Theatre Club.

Dramatic Publishing is the home for great plays and musicals such as A Christmas Story, The Musical; To Kill a Mockingbird; Twelve Angry Men; Evil Dead The Musical; All American; Around the World in 80 Days; Straight; Qualities of Starlight; and 1984.

"We are delighted to be working again with Molly," stated Christopher Sergel III, president of Dramatic Publishing. "We have been honored to represent her award-winning play Training Wisteria for many years, and we're excited to add her amazing and incisive Cry it Out to our catalog."
