On April 4, 2026, the student board of Prasetiya Mulya University put on an original musical called MUSIKAL PASAR DANGDUT: SEMESTA BERDENDANG, or SEMESTA BERDENDANG for short, at Teater Besar, Taman Ismail Marzuki
The show was directed by Andibachtiar Yusuf and Dadang Badoet, with music by Lucky Kakang and script by M. Afif Permana.
SEMESTA BERDENDANG had a classic telenovela-style story with twists and turns. The main character is Adeng (Atar), an ambitious young man with big dreams. After he went viral on social media, he was invited to come to the capital city to reenact his viral moment for mass entertainment. Soon enough, he had to return to his small town after the virality inevitably died down. But Ateng was forever changed after tasting his fifteen minutes of fame.

Although the story might not be too deep, the show itself was very fun. The performance was always engaging to watch, a testament to the cast and creatives’ hard work. Each cast member brought their own spark, creating a colorful and high-energy show.
The sound quality was good and the dance numbers were enjoyable. Although some of the cast needed effort to recall the choreography – their consistent cheer made everything work on stage. However, the seat we were assigned had limited visibility during certain scenes; we might have missed some visual details.
Overall, SEMESTA BERDENDANG was a festive and fun show, full of humor, creativity, and passion.
Broadwayworld Indonesia was a media partner for SEMESTA BERDENDANG.
