The community theater Center Stage Community (Censtacom) will debut their next musical show Thearapy on June 8 and 9 at Teater Salihara. The show explores various problems faced by theater performers. The show will use various songs from musical theater as a way to express and work through their problems.

This is the latest installment in the Thearapy series, which consists of Thearapy (July 2023) and Thearapy: The Conspiracy (October 2023). The 2024 version of Thearapy will include two parts: Thearapy: The Sequel and Thearapy: The Finale?. Each part will run once on Saturday, June 8 and once on Sunday, June 9.

Thearapy: The Sequel takes place in a therapy group for theater performers who have different problems, ranging from the professional to the personal. Their therapist encourages people to talk about their problems using songs that can best convey their deepest feelings, and, hopefully, find a solution

Meanwhile, Thearapy: The Finale? is set in a local prison where another group of performers have been arrested. While stuck in a jail, they cope with the incarceration by exploring their frustrations, regrets, and hopes. Of course, all done through musical theater songs.

The cast is composed of 30 local musical theater talents who passed the audition process and came from different backgrounds. The show’s characters are written based on each cast member, aiming to highlight their unique personality and talents.

Censtacom founder and Thearapy director Josephine Angelica shared the idea behind the show, “I want to provide a space for up-and-coming musical theater talents to explore, grow, and collaborate together. I’m inspired by each cast member’s unique energy, capability, and struggles and that’s why I wanted to write shows that can showcase their individuality, while also highlighting the common problems that they face as performers in Indonesia. I hope this show can resonate with other artists and shed a light on the industry for the general public. And, of course, we keep it super fun and entertaining too.”

Thearapy tickets are available on bit.ly/ThearapyTickets2024 and on the spot (OTS). The tickets start at Rp300.000 per ticket for each show, with bundling prices available. There is also a Payday Sale on May 25-28, with prices starting at Rp450.000 for two tickets (regular price Rp600.000).
