BWW Preview: JAKARTA THEATRE FESTIVAL 2016 by Jakarta Arts Council

43th Festival Teater Jakarta (Jakarta Theatre Festival / FTJ) is organized by the Jakarta Arts Council - Theatre Committee and fully supported by the Jakarta Tourism & Culture Department and Indonesian Creative Economy Agency. FTJ 2016 will be held on November 21 to December 9 2016 in Teater Kecil, Taman Ismail Marzuki. With the main theme "Transisi" (transition) - which is written in the style of computer programming language "TRANS//>

Transition also means a change from the competition-style theatre festival that was held before, to become really festive, in the sense of a varied lively festival atmosphere forms, events and competition. Besides competition, FTJ 2016 also features theatre groups outside FTJ products, both traditional and modern repertoire.

Sixteen finalists will appear in the Main Wing, while the invitation of theater groups will perform at the Classical Wing, Perspective Wing, and Guest Wing. FTJ 2016 also presents a number of workshops, public discussions, archives exhibition, actors' cafe, and the art market. In short, FTJ 2016 will develop to build and strengthen the international character, so that the theatre become a main attraction of the city itself.
