Melody Gardot, Part of the Jazz at The Cabaret Series at The Cabaret Indianapolis

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to see multi-Grammy nominated singer-songwriter and musician Melody Gardot live. Gardot's music is unable to be defined by genre – ranging from soulful, sultry, and sassy, to rich and emotive. As she’s risen to stardom, she’s released six albums and been compared to such greats as Nina Simone, Joni Mitchell, Diana Krall, Norah Jones, and Cassandra Wilson – heady company for someone who has only just turned 32. The story of this vocalist, guitarist, and pianist is remarkable; blessed with a beautiful alto voice and grand insight as a songwriter, Gardot overcame a life-threatening bicycle accident as a teenager, leaving her disabled – then discovered the true depth of her musical gifts during her recovery. Hidden behind dark glasses and a tempting smile is an extraordinary young woman whose daily struggles feed her artistic pursuit and mark her as a true original. She possesses a bluesy, jazz-oriented style and dusky persona that reflect not only her afflictions, but also the hope and joy that music provides.
