Join Bob Sander and Celestine Bloomfield as they share stories about Hoosiers, Indiana or pioneers during the Indiana State Fair in Pioneer Village. Since 1985, midwest audiences have enjoyed Bob Sander's original and traditional stories and music. A lifelong Hoosier with German and Scotch-Irish roots, Bob spent 10 years as a folk musician and has traveled the United states, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Europe. Bob's easy, understated style conveys keen insight and wit. He interlaces his stories with audience participation and occasional folk music interludes. Whether sharing a humorous family story or rich world folktale, Bob's tales lighten and speak to the heart.

Celestine Bloomfield officially began to call herself a storyteller in 1977 but that was just officially. She grew up in Gary, Indaina listening to her father recite Paul Lawrence and Sir William Cullen Bryant. So you could say that Celestine was destined to tell her own stories. Celestine has been an audience favorite since the first festival in 1988 due to her masterful sense of timing, rich voice that captivates, and her flfuid gestures that invite audiences into her space.

Peformances take place on August 20, 2009 in Pioneer Village on the grounds of Indiana State Fair. Bob Sander will tell from 4 - 4:30 p.m. Celestine Bloomfield will tell from 7 - 7:30 p.m.

The performances are free but you must purchase a ticket to attend the Indiana State Fair. The Indiana State Fairgrounds are located at 1202 E. 38th St in Indianapolis. For more information call (317) 576-9848.
