South Bend Civic Theatre is announcing auditions for our upcoming show Jar the Floor (directed by Kevin Dreyer and Consuela Howell). There are great roles for women in Jar the Floor. Scripts are available to read for a refundable $10 deposit. Please visit the Box Office 12-6pm weekdays to check out scripts.

Auditions for Jar the Floor will be held August 6 & 8 in SBCT's Warner Studio Theatre, 403 N. Main Street. Called by the New York Daily News, "Smart, hilarious, poignant and meaningful. The dialogue functions like a rollercoaster ride that will have you careening from laughter to tears." This contemporary play by Cheryl L. West takes place in suburban Illinois where four generations of African-American women gather for the matriarch's 90th birthday. Feelings boil to the surface and frustrations, recriminations, and thwarted dreams are recounted. This play features tremendous roles for five actresses.

Characters:
MaDear - 90 year old mother of Lola (African-American)
Lola - 65 year old daughter of MaDear (African-American)
MayDee - 47 year old daughter of Lola (African-American)
Vennie - 28 year old daughter of MayDee (African-American)
Raisa - 30 year old friend of Vennie (White)

Performances for Jar the Floor will be October 7-16 in the Warner Studio Theatre.
