Fort Wayne Civic Theatre proudly announces two first place winners for the 6th Annual Northeast Indiana Playwright Festival:

1st Place Winners: Is This Seat Taken? by Bob Ahlersmeyer AND Touch & Go by Rebecca Cameron
2nd Place Winner: T.B.D. - To Be Determined by Paul Elliott
3rd Place Winner: Between the Sheets by Anthony Hall Seed

The 6th Annual Playwright Festival will be held May 29-31, 2015 at the Parkview Physicians Group ArtsLab Theatre at 300 E. Main Street, Fort Wayne, IN.

The two winning plays will be presented together as two one-act plays with a 15 minute intermission in between. The winning plays, directed by Phillip H. Colglazier, premiere on Friday, May 29 at 8:00 pm. Is This Seat Taken? and Touch & Go are presented again during festival weekend on Saturday, May 30 at 2:00 pm and 8:00 pm and on Sunday, May 31 at 2:00 pm. All performances during the festival weekend are followed by post discussions. Additional performances of this production will be on Thursday, June 4 at 7:30 pm; Friday, June 5 at 8:00 pm; Saturday, June 6 at 8:00 pm and Sunday, June 7 at 2:00 pm.

The second and third place plays will have stage readings followed by post discussion. T.B.D. - To Be Determined by Paul Elliott will be presented at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 30 with the post discussion lead by Director Aaron Willoughby. Between The Sheets by Anthony Hall Seed will be presented at 10:00 am on Sunday, May 31 with a post discussion lead by Director Dianne B. Shaw. Both play readings are held at the ArtsLab Theatre.

Dr. Tom Evans, Regional Director & Playwright will be the featured speaker for the 2015 festival. As a playwright Evans has seven plays that have been produced at university, community or professional theatres. Evans has been awarded numerous honors in his career as a theatre professional and educator and is a Former Theatre Department Chair of Hanover College. In addition, Evans spent eleven summer as Staff Director at Shenandoah Playwrights Retreat in Virginia. Dr. Evans will speak at a workshop on Saturday, May 30 at 5:30pm at the ArtsLab Theatre, followed by the annual festival reception.

Open to current or former residents of Indiana and to those in a 90-mile radius of Fort Wayne, scripts were submitted by 24 playwrights from throughout Indiana and from California, Florida, Illinois and Ohio. These scripts were adjudicated by a committee of local and national theatre professionals who determined the winners.
This year's festival receives funding support from The Dramatists Guild of America. It is made possible with the support of Lincoln Financial Group. Fort Wayne Civic Theatre is a funded member of Arts United and receives support from the Auer Foundation, Foellinger Foundation, English Bonter, Mitchell Foundation, Fort Wayne Community Foundation and the Indiana Arts Commission.

The Northeast Indiana Playwright Festival was established to help nurture the creative writing talents of Indiana playwrights. Auditions for all festival plays will be held on Sunday, March 22 6:00 pm for staged productions (Is This Seat Taken? and Touch & Go) and 7:00 pm for the stage readings (T.B.D. - To Be Determined and Between The Sheets) at the Arts United Center -- 303 E.
