Buck Creek Playhouse, 11150 Southeastern Avenue, will hold open auditions for Buck Creek Players' Indiana State Premiere of the new musical I Love You Because. Casting requires a cast of three women and three men (20s to 30s). All roles are available. Scheduled for a nine performance run October 1-17, 2010, all those auditioning are asked to prepare 16-20 measures of a prepared song and come prepared to read from the script. Please bring sheet music in the correct key. An accompanist will be provided. No accompianment tracks or unaccompanied singing, please. Scripts may be perused at the I-MCPL Central Library (5th floor Information Desk - 40 E. St. Clair Street) or at the Franklin Road branch (5550 S. Franklin Road). Please bring a list of all conflicts from August through October 2010.

Premiering for the first time in Indiana, the new musical I Love You Because is a modern-day retelling of Jane Austen's classic novel, Pride and Prejudice with the gender roles reversed. Described as "a modern day musical love story," this new work boasts a rich and tuneful score by Joshua Salzman with book and lyrics by Ryan Cunningham. This slightly nutty take on modern dating is set in New York, the city of romance where relationships end badly, and where those on the rebound fall for the wrong person.
