42ND STREET Opens At Beef & Boards On April 4
Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre takes audiences to that famous avenue as it presents the ultimate show-biz musical: 42nd Street starting April 4. A celebration of Broadway, Times Square, and the people who make the magic of musical theatre, 42nd Street also won the Tony Award for Best Musical.
Aspiring chorus girl Peggy Sawyer comes to the big city from Allentown PA, and soon lands her first big job in the ensemble of a glitzy new Broadway show. But just before opening night, the leading lady breaks her ankle. Will Peggy be able to step in and become a star?
The score is chock-full of Broadway standards, including "You're Getting To Be A Habit With Me," "Dames," "We're In the Money," "Lullaby of Broadway," "Shuffle Off to Buffalo" and "42nd Street."
Kaylee Verble makes her Beef & Boards debut as the starry-eyed young dancer Peggy Sawyer with big dreams. Mark Epperson, seen in Elf, The Musical and Mamma Mia! at Beef & Boards, plays Broadway producer Julian Marsh, while Dan Bob Higgins, who most recently starred as Buddy the Elf in Elf, The Musical at Beef & Boards plays Billy, the romantic lead of the Broadway show. Also returning to the Beef & Boards stage are Sarah Hund as Dorthy Brock, the diva, and Lanene Charters as Maggie Jones and Brett Mutter as Bert Barry, the show's writers.
42nd Street is on stage for 44 performances through May 19. Tickets range from $45 to $70, and include Chef Odell Ward's dinner buffet, fruit & salad bar, unlimited coffee, tea and lemonade.
