Born in Lucknow and having had her initial training in Kathak from Pt. Arjun Misra, Sanjukta received a Government of India scholarship for further training with Smt. Kumudini Lakhia at Kadamb Centre for Dance in Ahmedabad. She is now associated with Kadamb as a dancer, teacher choreographer and researcher.
A dancer of great beauty and style, Sanjukta has immense energy that is seen in her “Nritta” and a lyrical charm in her “Abhinaya”. Her love for music has enabled her to incorporate forms of music such as Dhrupad, Sufi and Contemporary, alongside traditional bhajans and thumris. Sanjukta has toured extensively in India as a soloist and performed in Mumbai, the Taj Mahal (Agra), Khajuraho, Ganga Mahotsav (Banaras), Lucknow Mahotsav, Delhi Kathak Samaroh, Chennai and Bangalore festival and also as a member of “The Kadamb Ensemble”. She has toured in Europe, Japan, Indonesia, Canada, U.K., Singapore, and Pakistan as a soloist.
