NCPA Welcomes Dame Felicity Lott to the Tata Theatre Tonight

The National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA), India's premiere arts and culture institution is proud to present Felicity's Favourites featuring one of Britain's best-loved sopranos, Dame Felicity Lott tonight, August 13, 2013 at Tata Theatre, NCPA. Dame Felicity, who returns to Mumbai after her maiden performance in March 2010, will be accompanied by celebrated pianist Maciej Pikulski.

The programme will include lieder and arias by Mozart, Schumann, Richard Strauss, Fauré, Poulenc and Offenbach. Dame Felicity has chosen some of her favourite pieces that she believes the Mumbai audience will really appreciate.

Dame Felicity Lott studied singing at the Royal Academy of Music, of which she is a fellow and visiting professor. Her operatic repertoire ranges from Handel to Stravinsky, but she has, above all, built up her formidable international reputation as an interpreter of the great roles of Mozart and Strauss. She has performed at the Vienna State Opera, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Metropolitan Opera New York, Bavarian State Opera and numerous prestigious venues all over the world. She has sung under famous stalwarts like Carlos Kleiber, Kurt Masur, Zubin Mehta, Andrew Davis, Georg Solti, Andre Previn and Franz Welser-Moest among others.

A founding member of The Songmakers' Almanac, Dame Felicity has appeared on the major recital platforms of the world, including the Salzburg, Prague, Bergen, Aldeburgh, Edinburgh and Munich Festivals, the Musikverein and Konzerthaus in Vienna and the Salle Gaveau, Musée d'Orsay, Opera Comique, Chatelet and Theatre des Champs Elysees in Paris. She has a particularly close association with Wigmore Hall, London and received the Wigmore Hall Medal in February 2010 for her significant contribution to the hall. She has won numerous other awards and accolades during her long and illustrious career.

Maciej Pikulski started his career as a vocal accompanist to world leading singers such as José van Dam, Renée Fleming, Dame Felicity Lott, Maria Bayo, Anna-Caterina Antonacci, Patricia Petibon, Laurent Naouri and Mireille Delunsch.

He was awarded a piano, chamber music and vocal accompaniment diploma at the Paris Superior Conservatory of Music, after which he was admitted to the post graduate cycle. He is also a prize-winner of the France Telecom Foundation.
