A love story that transcends the ages.
A master of the Roman Empire risks everything
?for the love of one of histories most fascinating women.
Obsidian Theater brings to life this classic that is rarely produced in modern times. Most people do not realize that all of shakespeare’s plays go through cycles of popularity. Recently A Midsummer Nights Dream has been extremely popular but in the late 1800s it was rarely produced and histories like Antony and Cleopatra were all the rage. It is Obsidian’s hope that we can remedy this and expose new audiences to this gem.
Sam Martinez directs the show and along with the assistant director Elizabeth Grant edited the show for length. It is our hope that we distilled the story to it’s essence and have a play that a modern audiences will love. We feel that the story and language will also benefit from Obsidian’s intimate space.
Performance dates are March 16, 17, 18, 23, 24, 25, 27, 29, 30, 31 and April 1, 2, 6, 7 and 8 p.m.
