Vincent Victoria Presents will be
mounting the play "Auntie Shameka!," an irreverent satirical comedy, loosely based
on the hit Broadway play "Auntie Mame."

Set in Houston's Historic Third Ward, "Auntie Shameka" tells the story of Shameka 'Shame' Kennedy, a flamboyant former Valedictorian of Franklin Beauty School, whose life is turned upside down when her recently deceased wealthy
brother's naive teen aged son comes to live with her and her "Gangsta" friends in the hood.

This daring comedy, written by playwright Vincent Victoria, uses adult humor, farcical situations, and surprising irony to prove that even though Auntie Shameka may live in "urbania" surrounded by gangs and guns; good intentions and love will always prevail no matter what the environment one lives in.

The play will use alternating casts each weekend to give as many underutilized actors in the community a chance to perform.

Auntie Shameka runs July 21-July 30 at Midtown Art Center 3414 La Branch. Show times are Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 4pm. Tickets are $15 on Fridays and $20 on Sat. and Sun. and can be purchased online at www.banksbrothersproductions.com beginning in June.
