Looking for a fun evening of singing and dancing while giving back to the Houston community? Come see OLIVER! presented by Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) April 5-17 at the Hobby Center and help fight hunger in Houston.

Use the promo code HFB and 20% of your ticket price will go directly to the Houston Food Bank. For each $1 the Houston Food Bank receives, they can provide three full meals to a hungry neighbor in need.

Want to do more? TUTS will be hosting a Food Drive benefiting the Houston Food Bank April 5- 17 before each performance at the Hobby Center. Bring one grocery bag per person of nonperishable food items (five or more items per bag) to the marked table in the Sarofim ticket lobby and receive a 50% off ticket voucher for that performance from our volunteers.

Just like Oliver, the runaway orphan and namesake character of the show, many children in Houston struggle with hunger every day. To help raise awareness of this struggle and, in addition to the food drive and ticket proceeds, the cast and crew of OLIVER! will do a volunteer day at the Houston Food Bank warehouse on Thursday, April 14 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. As a special treat for Volunteer Appreciation Week, April 11 - 14, cast members from TUTS' production of Oliver! will give a short performance for food bank employees and volunteers in the Repack Room!

A non-profit based in Houston, Texas, TUTS offers a world-class musical theatre experience that ranges from full-scale Broadway productions to educational initiatives that extend beyond the stage and into the community -- for actors and aficionados of all ages and abilities. TUTS performs annually in Sarofim Hall and Zilkha Hall at the Hobby Center and at Miller Outdoor Theatre. TUTS began performing at Miller Outdoor Theatre in 1968, and is the only arts organization to perform at Miller every year since then. Founded by Frank M. Young and currently under the direction of Interim Managing Director Joel Sulzc and Artistic Director Bruce Lumpkin, TUTS has produced more than 300 musicals including many local, national and world premieres. Through its membership in the Independent Presenters Network, TUTS regularly helps mount shows on Broadway which eventually show locally to Houston audiences.

The Houston Food Bank is a solution to hunger in times of need. America's largest and nationally recognized as Feeding America's Food Bank of the Year, the Food Bank distributes 74 million nutritious meals through its network of 600 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and other hunger relief charities in southeast Texas, feeding 800,000 individuals each year. Fresh produce, meat and nonperishables are distributed from the warehouse at 535 Portwall, and meals for kids are prepared and distributed from Keegan Center, a 15,000 square-foot industrial kitchen. Additional community services include nutrition education, school-based programs, food stamp applications and hands-on job training. Red Barrels offer a convenient way for grocery shoppers to donate nonperishables for their neighbors in need. The Houston Food Bank, founded in 1982, is a certified member of Feeding America, the nation's food bank network, with a four-star rating from Charity Navigator. Visit us online.
