Theatre Under The Stars' (TUTS) has announced the new summer camp curriculum for both the Humphreys School of Musical Theatre (HSMT) and The River for the Performing and Visual Arts Center (The River) beginning this June. TUTS invites you to let the little camper in your life take center stage at one of our many week-long summer camp sessions developed to expand their skills through exploration of musical theatre. Humphreys School Summer Camp
Helping students develop confidence while increasing physical coordination, fostering language arts skills, and enhancing cooperative ensemble attitudes through musical theatre training has been the goal of HSMT for more than 40 years. Each week-long summer camp session is designed to expose the beginner and intermediate students to dance, acting and voice. For Ages 4-6: Musical Theatre Camp
Weekly musical theatre camps offer students the opportunity to learn, rehearse and showcase a mini-musical. New family-friendly material is selected each week. No audition is required. At the end of each week a showcase is presented for family and friends.
Monday - Thursday, weekly camps June 17- August 12, 9:30am - 12:00pm, Thursday show at 11:45am
$125 per week, plus a $15 enrollment fee

For Ages 7-12: Musical Theatre Camp
Students combine a Broadway musical and a big screen movie to create a musical theatre mash up! Sing, dance, act and write as a team for one week to create your own production. Friday classes conclude at noon to allow for a showcase performance for friends and family.

The River Summer Camp
The River Performing and Visual Arts Center has been serving individual with disabilities since 1996. The summer camp program at The River provides an accessible, affordable, fine arts education for children, ages 4 -19, who have disabilities and their siblings. Summer camp registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Financial aid is available. Learn the fun of singing, dancing, acting and creating props through musical theatre! Participants develop confidence and expand social skills through the creative process, rehearsals and performances. Family and friends are encouraged to attend and applaud at the participants' hour-long performances, held every Friday at 12:30pm.

June 24 - 28: trade places with your favorite characters from classic children's cinema.

July 8 - 12: discover space and its final frontier from the spotlight of the stage.

July 15 - 19: dream about a sweeter time complete with sleepovers, slumber parties, and pajama games.

July 22 - 26: celebrate the winners of the Emmy, Grammy, Ocars and Tony award shows through show stopping numbers.

July 29 - August 2: explore Hispanic heritage and Latin music as we showcase cultural diversity.
Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) is Houston's acclaimed nonprofit musical theatre company whose mission is to enrich life through the experience of quality musical theatre and to positively impact lives beyond the stage through innovative education & community engagement programs. Currently TUTS engages more than 200,000 people annually through productions at Sarofim Hall and Zilkha Hall at the Hobby Center and at Miller Outdoor Theatre. TUTS was the first theatrical organization in Houston to perform free to the public when it was founded in 1968 at Miller Outdoor Theatre in Hermann Park and is the only Houston arts organization that has performed there free to the public every year since the theatre opened. Breckenridge and Artistic Director Bruce Lumpkin, TUTS has produced more than 300 musicals including many local, national and world premieres such as Kopit and Yeston's Phantom, Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Jekyll & Hyde, and Irving Berlin's White Christmas as well as critically acclaimed re-inventions of classics Cabaret and Les Miserables. Through its membership in the Independent Presenters Network, TUTS has helped bring Bombay Dreams, 9 to 5, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Spamalot, Legally Blonde, Ragtime, Curtains and The Color Purple to Broadway and ultimately back to Houston audiences.
In support of TUTS' mission, TUTS' Education & Community Engagement programs provide instruction and stage experience for more than 48,000 Houstonians annually. The Humphreys School of Musical Theatre (HSMT) offers technique-driven classes for all ability levels and ages, ranging from four to adult. Through The River Performing and Visual Arts Center (The River), TUTS provides an accessible and inclusive arts education for individuals of all abilities that will enhance their development into confident, balanced individuals. TUTS Education & Community Engagement provides extended on-site programming as well as off-site programming for children in schools, hospitals and other community-based sites. TUTS' community partnerships include collaborations with the Houston Independent School District and Region IV school districts, the YMCA of Greater Houston, M.D. Anderson Children's Cancer Center, Texas Children's Hospital and Shriner's Hospital - Houston, among several other Houston-area organizations. TUTS also annually presents the Tommy Tune Awards, honoring the best and brightest in Houston's high school musical theatre programs.
