The T.R.U.T.H Project Inc. (Telling Real Unapologetic Truths through Healing) presents Feel My Pride, Friday, June 16, 2017, 7:00p.m. at MATCH 3400 Main St. Houston, TX 77006.

"Feel My Pride is intentionally set at the intersection between Juneteenth and Houston Gay Pride celebrations," says Founder Kevin Anderson. "This artistic performance explores the word 'Pride' through the lens of LGBT communities of color and allies."

The performance will feature spoken word, dance, song and theater as its vehicles of storytelling. Audiences will be brought to the crossroads of culture, identity, and loyalty. Life influences create a spectrum of what looks pride feels like and how it is expressed. Pride is personified in this narrative about rising above adversities and sharing life's realities being a person of color and same gender loving.

"The space will be intimate and will place both the artist and attendees in a position to look each other directly in the eyes and ask the question...Can you feel my pride?" says Anderson.

The T.R.U.T.H. Project was awarded its 501c3 designation in May 2015, as an organization that educates and mobilizes LGBTQ communities of color and their allies through social arts that promote mental, emotional and sexual health. Feel My Pride is generously supported by Bunnies on the Bayou, Inc.

The T.R.U.T.H. Project was founded in 2011 as a Houston based community mobilization initiative focused on utilizing various art forms to educate and empower the LGBTQ community. Since its inception, The T.R.U.T.H Project has reached more than 5,000 attendees and continues to grow.

Performances are held quarterly and have addressed issues such as bullying, domestic violence, and depression. The Texas State Department of Health recognized the efforts of the T.R.U.T.H. Project and its founder, Kevin Anderson, to use the arts as a vehicle for information, awareness, and access to resources, and awarded a grant that allowed him to extend his outreach by partnering with national recording artist such as Marsha Ambrosius and Chisette Michele. He has also served as a consultant in other cities interested in starting similar initiatives.
