Madeline's at Main Street Theater! From Ludwig Bemelman's classic book Madeline's Christmas, this delightful musical version will play Saturdays at 1pm and 4pm from November 13 - December 11 with a special 11:30am performance on Friday, November 26. Performances are at Main Street Theater-Chelsea Market, 4617 Montrose Boulevard in the Museum District. Ticket prices for public performances are $12 and $14. Tickets are on sale in person at the Main Street Theater Box Office at 2540 Times Blvd. in Rice Village, via phone at 713.524.6706 or online at mainstreettheater.com. Group rates are available. No children under 3 are admitted in the theater (including sleeping babies).

About Madeline's Christmas
"In an old house in Paris that was covered with vines lived twelve little girls in two straight lines." This charming 1956 classic finds Madeline in a Christmas crisis when all of her schoolmates are sick, along with headmistress Miss Clavel. Who will run the school? How will the girls get home for the holidays? Madeline must take charge! Madeline's Christmas is a perfect reminder for audiences of all ages of this wonderful season of miracles.
Recommended for Pre-Kindergarten and up.

About Author Ludwig Bemelmans

Author, illustrator, artist, gourmet - Ludwig Bemelmans was a man of many talents. Bemelans wrote 45 books in his career but his best known for this authorship and illustration of the Madeline books. Bemelmans' "Central Park", a mural on the walls of the Carlyle Hotel's Bemelmans Bar in New York City, is his only remaining artwork on display to the public.

Bemelmans died in 1962. He is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.

Madeline and La Madeleine
Saturday, November 27 is La Madeleine Day at Madeline's Christmas! Following the 4pm performance, La Madeleine will be providing delicious treats at the theater.

About the Production
Mark Adams directs Madeline's Christmas after directing last season's Junie B. Jones and a Little Monkey Business at Main Street. Miriam Daly is the music director. Caroline Menefee, last season's Junie B. Jones, will play Madeline. The rest of the cast includes Brittny Bush, Rebecca Cansler, Kaylin Coates, Lauren Dolk, Emerald Harmon, Jacqueline Grady, Katie Harrison, Jessica Knapp, Lendsey Kersey, Erica Wylie, Liann Herder, Meghan C. Hakes, and Richard Solis.
The design team includes Liz Freese (set design), Ron Putterman (lighting design), Macy Perrone (costume design), Andrew Harper (sound design), and Richard Solis (properties design). Meghan C. Hakes is the choreographer. Caroline Scott is the Production Stage Manager. Alan Hall is the Assistant Stage Manager.

Since 1975, Main Street Theater has produced high quality professional theater for audiences of all ages through its MainStage productions and its Theater for Youth. The Main Street Theater Kids On Stage program offers performing arts classes and camps for children 5 years to 14 years of age. The organization produces plays at two locations, 2540 Times Boulevard in Rice Village and 4617 Montrose Boulevard at Chelsea Market.
Main Street Theater is a member of the Fresh Arts Coalition, a collaboration of 25 arts organizations that work collectively to raise awareness of the size and diversity of the arts in Houston, and a constituent of Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national service organization for not-for-profit theaters. Main Street Theater offers a lively year-round repertory of classic and contemporary plays for audiences of all ages and provides a much-needed showcase for Houston theater professionals. Main Street Theater is also a member of Actors' Equity Association and of ASSITEJ, the world theatre network of theatre for children and young people. Main Street Theater is funded in part by grants from the City of Houston and the Houston Arts Alliance, as well as the Texas Commission on the Arts.
