MENOPAUSE, THE MUSICAL Begins Tonight at the Grand

By:

The Grand 1894 Opera House announces the return of the hilarious Menopause, The Musical to center stage tonight-Thursday, February 11-13, 2014 at 7:30pm and Friday, February 14, 2014 at 8pm. Sometimes referred to as "the Rocky Horror show for menopausal women", you will walk into the theatre as strangers and walk out having formed a common bond of sisterhood.

Inspired by a major hot flash and a bottle of wine, creator Jeanie Linders had never written anything before penning Menopause the Musical. The premise of the story involves four women who meet at a lingerie sale, with nothing in common except menopause. They come from very diverse backgrounds: A "hippie type" earth mother, an ambitious power woman, a housewife living in the shadow of her husband, and an aging soap star on the verge of being replaced by a younger woman.

The show includes song parodies of popular recordings from the 1960s-1980s such as "I Heard It Through The Grapevine", "You No Longer See 39", and "Stayin' Awake! Stayin' Awake!" The musical takes hot flashes, mood swings, and memory loss and transforms them into a universally praised, international sensation. You won't want to miss this incredibly funny production where the female cast pokes fun at their wrinkles, night sweats and chocolate binges! Come be a part of this "wonderful sisterhood created by a common bond."

Ticket prices start at $21. Call for pricing on Box Seats. Special discounts for group and senior tickets may be available. For information about this and other performances scheduled, contact The Grand's box office at 409.765.1894, 800.821.1894, or visit The Grand's website at www.thegrand.com. The theatre, located at 2020 Postoffice Street in historic downtown, is recognized as "The Official Opera House of the State of Texas." All major credit cards accepted.
