Kathrine G. McGovern College of the Arts Cancels Opening Night Event Due to Harvey

The Kathrine G. McGovern College of the Arts has released the following statement after inquiries for their staff and community's well being:

"We have received numerous messages updating us on the safety and well being of our friends and supporters. We also know that many members of our extended family have been affected by the terrible events of last week. All of you are in our thoughts.

"College facilities did sustain water damage, but fared better than many other locations in Houston. The most serious damage is in an Organ Recital Hall in the Fine Arts Building, on the east side of the Wilhelmina Grove. There was also water damage, on a smaller scale, in the School of Theatre & Dance and in the Moores School of Music buildings.

We are sorry to share that after careful consideration and thorough assessment of our faculty, staff and student operations, we will need to cancel our Opening Night event on Thursday, September 14. Other performances and events scheduled through the College will remain relatively unchanged; we will communicate with you during these next few weeks in the event that schedules become altered.
