Houston Grand Opera Names Beth Madison Chair of the Board

At its meeting on December 8, 2010, the Houston Grand Opera Association Board of Directors unanimously elected Beth Madison to succeed Glen Rosenbaum as its chair. Rosenbaum, whose term expires on July 31, 2011, has been Chairman since September, 2009."It has been an inspiration and a delight to get to know Beth over the last few years," says HGO General Director and CEO Anthony Freud. "I am thrilled that the Board of Directors has elected her as its new chair to succeed Glen Rosenbaum next August, and I look forward, with eager anticipation, to working with her".

Chair-elect Beth Madison is President of Madison Benefits Group, Inc., one of the largest independent brokerage firms in Texas, with 11 offices and more than 300 employees statewide. She has more than thirty years experience in the employee benefits industry. A graduate of the University of Houston, Madison has been an active member of Houston's philanthropic community for many years, serving in various capacities with the Houston Symphony, the University of Houston - Moores School of Music Society, the University of Houston Alumni Organization, the Greater Houston Preservation Alliance, Baylor College of Medicine Teen Clinic, and the World Affairs Council of Houston, which she served as past President and current Chairman.  At Houston Grand Opera, she has served on the Board of Directors as Co -Chair of the HGO Studio Committee and Chair of the Finance Committee, as well as a member of the Special Events Committee. A member of the Founders Council and a Trustee, she has been a subscriber at HGO for over a decade.Current chairman Glen Rosenbaum stated, "Having known Beth for 30 years and in recent years having worked with her on the HGO board, I am certain that her extraordinary capabilities will guide the company to new heights."
