Theater LaB Houston has announced its 22nd season of Houston Premieres for the 2014/2015 season. Following a successful transition from its Alamo Street venue to Obsidian Art Space this past season, TLH will expand its performance calendar by adding two full productions with four week runs. This year's exciting season includes premieres of major Off Broadway productions and an award winning performer from recent Fringe Festivals.

This story of a shy boy, nicknamed Nashville Hurricane who becomes a country-music superstar. Padgett plays all of the characters in the show, he also plays the guitar (extremely well). His Nashville, despite his talents, is socially awkward. Yet his mama pushes him into show business, where an unscrupulous talent scout takes control of his destiny. The characters are sharply etched, very funny, and engaging. The guitar finale at the end of the performance had audiences cheering with standing ovations.

Love, Loss and What I Wore by Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron, based on the book by Irene Beckerman.

Like the popular book, Love, Loss, and What I Wore uses clothing and accessories and the memories they trigger to tell funny and often poignant stories that all women can relate to. Matters of the heart and matters of the closet combine in this comic and poignant collection of stories that Theatre Mania called "insightful, entertaining touching an often hilarious."

A story about black cowboy boots becomes a sad tale of being underappreciated in a relationship; a tale of two women shopping for their wedding outfits ends bitter sweetly; and the recollection of a new bra is a quiet testament to a women's search for dignity while undergoing treatment for breast cancer and much more.

A theatrical piece with five actresses, TLH is pleased to have as part of the ensemble cast Eileen Morris (Artistic Director - The Ensemble Theater) and one of TLH's leading ladies Mary Hooper (True Love Lies, The Little Dog Laughed, Book of Liz, Box Office of the Damned to name a few).

My Name is Asher Lev by Aaron Posner, adapted from the Best Selling novel by Chaim Potok.

Based on the best-selling novel by Chaim Potok (The Chosen), My Name is Asher Lev is a new American play set in Brooklyn. It tells the powerful story of a boy prodigy who must be an artist at any cost - against the will of family, community and tradition. This journey of a young Jewish painter torn between his Hassidic upbringing and his desperate need to fulfill his artistic promise. When his artistic genius threatens to destroy his relationship with his parents and community, young Asher realizes he must make a difficult choice between art and faith. This stirring adaptation of a modern classic presents a heartbreaking and triumphant vision of what it means to be an artist. It is a luminous portrait of a young artist with a universal theme to follow our passion.

2012 Outstanding New Off-Broadway Play Outer Critics Circle Award Winner. John Gassner Award (Presented for an American play, preferably by a new playwright) - Aaron Posner - Winner. Opened Off Broadway at the Westside Theater on November 28, 2012 with an acclaimed run for over ten months.

Performances run Wednesday, January 5th through Sunday, February 1st, 2015.

Vanities, the Musical adapted by Jack Heifner and based on his hilarious long-running Off Broadway smash, with music and lyrics by David Kirshenbaum.

Vanities, the Musical chronicles the life-affirming journey of three vivacious Texas teens from cheerleaders to sorority sisters to housewives, liberated women and beyond. This musical captures a snapshot-sharp portrait of the lives, loves, disappointments and dreams of these young women growing up during the turbulent '60s and '70s and reconnecting in the late 1980s. With a tunefully evocative score by David Kirshenbaum (Summer of '42) and Jack Heifner's hilarious adaptation of his long-running off-Broadway smash, Vanities, the Musical is a funny and poignant look at three best friends who discover that, through thirty years of rapidly changing times, the one thing they can rely on is each other.

Performances run Wednesday, April 1st through Sunday, May 3rd, 2015.
