Firecracker Productions to Stage Mamet's THE DUCK VARIATIONS
Firecracker Productions presents a fresh take on The Duck Variations by David Mamet.
The Duck Variations by David Mamet dramatizes the old adage that people who talk with the most authority about something are the ones most likely to know the least about it. Two women discuss the ways of ducks, making observations about life that are profoundly hilarious. The play is traditionally written for 2 men, but Firecracker Productions has received permission from Mamet to cast women in both roles, making no other changes to the text.
Bree Bridger directs this production which runs March 11-26 at Frenetic Theater (5102 Navigation Blvd, Houston 77011). Tickets start at $10 and are available online at www.FirecrackerProductions.org.
"I'm very excited to be part of the creative team to bring a new conceptualization of a classic David Mamet to the Houston stage," Bridger says. "It is the first production of its kind in Houston and we're grateful to have the publisher's support in this endeavor."
Karen Schlag will portray George and Tasha Gorel will play Emil in this modern variation of the classic play.
David Mamet is a member of the American Theatre Hall of Fame and is a Pulitzer Prize and Drama Desk Award winning playwright.
