This October, Doreen Cronin's children's book "Duke For President" hits the Main Street Theatre stage. DUCK FOR PRESIDENT, James E. Grote's theater adaptation of Cronin's book, features music and lyrics by George Howe. Robin Robinson stage directs and Debbie Wylie provides music direction in the Main Street Theatre production of this musical children's comedy.

Unhappy with the working conditions on Farmer Brown's farm, Duck campaigns to put himself in charge. In this hilarious tale by the author of Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type, Duck seeks nothing less than the highest office in the land! Our fellow Americans, we present to you Duck for president! DUCK FOR PRESIDENT is recommended for Pre-kindergarten and up. Children under the age of 3 (including sleeping babies) are not allowed in the theater.

James E. Grote (Adaptor): Jim has been a member of the artistic ensemble of Lifeline Theatre in Chicago since 1999. He has adapted five of the books in the Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type series, all of which were developed and premiered at Lifeline. He has also adapted the 2013 Newbery Award-winner The One and Only Ivan; Daniel Mason's The Piano Tuner; and C.S. Lewis' The Silver Chair (Best Family Show of 2000, Chicago Tribune). As an actor, Jim has appeared at Lifeline in Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile; Around the World in 80 Days; and The Killer Angels (2004), among other shows. Jim is a graduate of Northwestern University, and works as a legal secretary.

George Howe (Composer & Lyricist): George has written the songs for many Kidseries shows at Chicago's Lifeline Theater, including the five musicals in the Click, Clack, Moo series, as well as Mr. Popper's Penguins; Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile; Somebody Loves You, Mr. Hatch; The Emperor's New Threads; and 2011's hit Arnie the Doughnut, which went on to be performed at the 2012 New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF). His musical Queen Lucia premiered at Lifeline and received a Non-Equity Jeff Award for Best New Musical 2006, and his musical treatment of Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey played to sold-out houses this past summer. George can be heard belting out showtunes and pop songs at Davenport's Piano Bar and Cabaret.
