Celebrating the best of British rock acts from the 60s and 70s, vocalist Brody Dolyniuk and guest conductor Brent Havens will join the Houston Symphony for a classic rock weekend to perform The Music of The Rolling Stones at8 p.m. Sept. 2 at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion and The Music of Queen at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 3 at Jones Hall.

The weekend kicks off with legendary hits from award-winning band The Rolling Stones. Interpreting the gritty showmanship of Mick Jagger, Dolyniuk and the orchestra will perform chart-toppers like "Start Me Up," "You Can't Always Get What You Want" and "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction." Synonymous with the youthful, rebellious counterculture of the mid-60s, the band cemented their place in the vanguard of the "British Invasion" of bands that became popular in the U.S. that decade. Since their formation in 1963 - over 50 years ago - The Rolling Stones have produced 29 studio albums selling a combined 31 million albums in the U.S. alone and remain just as relevant today.

The following night, Havens will lead Dolyniuk and the orchestra in an extravagant performance of hits from Queen like "I Want It All," "Under Pressure," "You're My Best Friend" and crowd-favorite "Bohemian Rhapsody." With 18 number-one albums and an estimated 300 million records sold worldwide, they are regarded as one of the world's best-selling music acts. Inspired by the defiant sounds of bands like The Rolling Stones, Queen embodied the pure excess of the 70s. Led by the late frontman Freddie Mercury, the group embraced the exaggerated pomp of progressive rock and heavy metal yielding music that was a bizarre - yet highly accessible - fusion of the macho and the whimsical.

The Music of The Rolling Stones will take place at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, 2005 Lake Robbins Dr. in The Woodlands. For tickets and more information please call (281) 364-3010 or visit www.woodlandscenter.org.

The Music of Queen will take place at Jones Hall for the Performing Arts, 615 Louisiana Street, in Houston's Theater District.
