Producer, composer, keyboardist and vocalist, Sergio Mendes is one of the most internationally successful Brazilian artists of all time. Mendes' signature mix of bossa nova and samba and distinctive pop instrumentation have ultimately come to define Brazilian music.

With a career spanning five decades, his enduring influence on the music industry continues to evolve. A three-time GRAMMY Award winner, with three additional GRAMMY nominations, he has recorded more than 35 albums, with numerous gold and platinum albums among them. In 2012, following year, Mendes received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song for "Real in Rio" from the animated film Rio.

Although Mendes' career began with the groups Bossa Rio and the Sergio Mendes Trio, it was his group, Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66 which sparked global stardom.

Mendes' innovation and versatility have enabled him to collaborate with a wide a range of artists, including Justin Timberlake, John Legend, Herb Alpert and the Black Eyed Peas.

His most recent album, Magic (2014), is a collection of new songs, recorded with a host of friends and special guests including John Legend, will.i.am, Carlinhos Brown and features the 2014 World Cup hit single "One Nation." Mendes continues to tour worldwide and maintains his work as a film composer and producer, while also always working on and developing his own album projects.

Located in the former Society of Seven showroom inside Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort, Blue Note Hawaii will feature a year-round lineup of musical entertainment - from local talent to international sensations - for limited engagements. As a part of Outrigger's ongoing commitment to the musical arts, the performance venue has undergone an extensive, multi-million-dollar revitalization, creating a brand new venue in the heart of Hawaii's most famed beach resort destination. Blue Note Hawaii features completely new décor and a state-of-the-art sound and light system.

The 9,000 square-foot facility was designed by local architecture and interior design firm InForm Design, and seats over 300 patrons, showcasing two performances nightly in an intimate setting - seven days a week, 365 days a year. Blue Note Hawaii also features a contemporary gift, including a dedicated location for musical acts to hold autograph sessions following each show. Guests can also dine at the venue, where a full-service restaurant and bar highlights the culinary talents of Chef Rodney Uyehara. Talent buying and programming is handled out of Blue Note Entertainment Group's New York office. Additionally, the venue is available for private event bookings.
