The plight of soldiers, the agony of battle fatigue, the struggle of a wife left behind, and the cyclical nature of violence are explored in this imaginative reworking of the classical Greek legend of Agamemnon-performed by Windward Community College's Theatre 260 Dramatic Production students February 27 through March 8 at Palik? Theatre.

Due to adult language, situations and themes, this play is recommended for ages 17 and older. Running time is 75 minutes.

Renowned British playwright Steven Berkoff's modern adaptation of Aeschylus' masterpiece uses darkly intense, poetic text to examine the interminable horror of revenge. Highlighting the cursed House of Atreus, imagined episodes from the Trojan War, the fate of Cassandra, the tragedy of a married couple forced to live apart for ten years, and the destiny of a hubris-filled hero, this anti-war play includes choral odes and stage combat.

Agamemnon is directed by award-winning stage director Taurie Kinoshita and features Theatre 260 students-many acting for the first time onstage. Each performance will be preceded by a brief introduction to Agamemnon and the Trojan War-allowing audiences to learn about, as well as theatrically engage with the material. A post-show discussion will be held on Sat., February 28.
