In Southern Gothic Novel, playwright Frank Blocker delivers his tale of crime, love and dark comedy through a solo portrayal of seventeen different characters. A secretive Mississippi town casts a gothic shadow over Blocker’s complex cast, including his protagonist, love-starved virgin Viola Haygood, in this tense narrative of abduction and rural strangeness, deftly unfolded with Blocker’s unique comedic edge.
