Review: Jeremy Jordan at Aventura Arts And Cultural Center- An Intimate Night With the Tony Award Nominee Image

Jeremy Jordan in concert was like meeting up with an old friend for coffee. An incredibly talented, handsome and funny friend... His ease and comfort in the delivery of small conversations with his equally talented and witty music director, Benjamin Rauhala, was refreshing. It felt honest and intimate. Tony Award nominee Jeremy Jordan (Newsies, Bonnie and Clyde, The Last Five Years) performed at the Aventura Arts and Cultural Center as a part of their Broadway Concert Series. It was a perfect venue for this intimate concert since it has a relatively small house with a little more than 300 seats. From the moment Jeremy made his entrance through the house, the audience was in shock how close they were to him. It set the tone for the whole night which was filled with amazing vocals and witty dialogue between the two.

Jeremy Jordan made his Broadway debut in Rock of Ages in 2009 and went on to perform in West Side Story and Newsies for which he received a Tony nomination as Best Actor in a Musical for this star-making role. He then earned a Grammy nomination for the Newsies cast album while holding a regular role in NBC's hit series Smash.

Jeremy showcased his amazing gift while singing everything from his own rendition of 'Oh What A Beautiful Morning" from Oklahoma, to "She Used To Be Mine" from Waitress and one of my personal favorites "Bring Him Home" from Les Miserables which he sang without a mic. Whether he sang without his microphone or teased Ben while letting us have a sneak peek into their friendship, it was a fun night to be had. The quirky night continued when he brought an audience member on stage to sing the love song " Bonnie" from Bonnie and Clyde (to only find she was 13, which had the audience laughing at the awkward moment) to a huge medley of Ben's favorite songs as Jeremy's birthday present.

Jeremy Jordan has lined up a series of spring concerts continuing at the New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts in New Orleans, Louisiana, March 29; with additional dates at Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto, June 11-12. Jordan is also set to appear as part of Broadway @ Town Hall in New York City, March 11, and at Carnegie Hall-in his Carnegie Hall solo concert debut with the New York Pops-on October 18.
