An opera of blazing colour - premiere 25th of January 2013
Bright golden music, exotic colours, a clash of love and religion - no wonder Thaïs is popular again. Massenet's music is brimming with superb melodic moments, most famously the celebrated Meditation.
Athanael is a monk who wishes to make a well-known courtesan mend her ways, but can even he resist the charms of the lovely Thaïs?
